Description
The Portskewett Gates and Gatepiers at St Pierre are a Neo-classical gateway constructed from Bath stone ashlar, featuring wrought iron gates and railings. The gateway is flanked by large rusticated piers that have a central plain panel and a moulded cornice. These piers frame panels of wrought iron spear-headed railings, which are currently somewhat damaged. The central double gates are flanked by taller rusticated piers topped with moulded caps. The gates themselves are made of decorative wrought iron and are fully intact. At the time of the last survey, the entire structure was heavily overgrown with ivy, making it difficult to inspect the details.
