Description
This building at 8 Castle Street is a house dating from the 19th century, featuring white painted stucco and a slate roof with close eaves. It has brick end stacks, with a larger stack on the right that is shared with No 7. The house is two storeys tall and was originally double fronted. On the upper floor, there are two 12-pane sash windows, while the ground floor has two later 19th-century canted bay windows, each with 2-6-2 panes, positioned on either side of the central door. The left bay is now part of No 9. The bays are topped with moulded cornices and slate hipped roofs. The door features a narrow overlight and is supported by bracketed consoles that hold up a flat cornice. The right side of the building has rusticated quoins that match those on the left end of the adjoining No 9. The interior was not available for inspection during the last survey in December 1999.
