Description
Pearl Assurance House is a commercial building designed in a refined neo-classical style. It features a stone façade on a brick structure with a parapet roof. The building stands three stories tall, with a stair and entrance bay set back to the right. The ground floor consists of three separate shop units, while the main two floors provide office accommodation, highlighted by two continuous bands of Crittal glazing and wide three-pane windows with plain vertical bands in between. The name 'PEARL ASSURANCE HOUSE' is displayed in raised lettering above the entrance, which is located to the right on the ground floor. This entrance features double doors with a raised granite surround, three steps leading up to a plinth, and the name 'PEARL ASSURANCE HOUSE' above. A plaque for Pearl Assurance is located on the side. Above the entrance is a tall stair window with vertical glazing, a raised surround, and a balcony railing.
The shop units have only been partially inspected and retain their division into three units, but they have been largely altered in detail. The main entrance leads to a hall with a narrow open well stair made of polished stone, featuring a metal handrail and U-form flat bar balusters. Some wall tiles, lighting, and other fittings remain. The first and second floors consist of open plan office spaces, which have been largely refitted but retain the original layout.
