Description

Canal Bridge No 47 on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal is a hump-backed bridge built from rubble sandstone. It features a single elliptical arch made with dressed stone voussoirs. The bridge has a low parapet with flat coping, and the abutments are slightly splayed outwards, ending in square piers. The deck is made of tarmac, and there are repairs in concrete to the coping and ends. A former tow path used to pass under the bridge on the east side. On the south side, there is a cast iron plate displaying the number "47" in raised white painted numbers.
