Description
The canal tunnel between Sebastopol and Cwmbran is constructed of brown stone and dates from the period of its use. The south portal features a semi-circular arch with a prominent keystone and is made of coursed squared stone. Walls extend southwards at right angles from the portal on both sides. The north portal is similar to the south portal, although the keystone is less prominent, and it has an attached wall at right angles. The tunnel measures approximately 70 meters in length and is lined with stone.
