Description
The barn at Capel-llwyd is a structure built from squared rubble stone and topped with an asbestos sheet roof. The barn entry, located on the right, is relatively low and features a cambered-headed opening with stone voussoirs and 20th-century sliding doors. There are small vent loops on each side of this entrance. To the left, there is another cambered-headed door also with stone voussoirs, accompanied by a third vent loop. Adjacent to this is a stable that has a taller-headed door with stone voussoirs and a small window. The left end of the barn has a raised string course beneath the gable and an added single-storey brick building. The right end wall is windowless and has a triangular apex vent. The rear wall contains a blocked barn door with stone voussoirs to the left, vent loops on each side, and a small window on the right.
Inside, the stable features three loft beams, while the left side of the barn is lofted on four beams. The center threshing floor is stone-flagged. The barn has a five-bay roof supported by four tie-beam trusses, which have been extensively repaired and feature added collars.
