Description
Ponthir House Inn is an inn constructed from white painted rubble stone, topped with concrete plain tiles on the roof and featuring small white-painted rendered brick end stacks. The building has one storey and an attic, which includes three eaves dormers with 20th-century leaded casement-pair windows and plain tiled sides and gable fronts. The ground floor is arranged in four bays, offset to the right. The central entrance is a half-glazed door, flanked by large casement pair windows to the left and right, with an additional window to the right that aligns with the dormer above. The left window features a thin stone hoodmould and a date plaque reading IGM (or IGH) 1710 above it. The door and the centre right window are set within a lean-to tiled open porch that has stone side walls and a single iron post in the centre. The windows have been replaced with larger leaded casement pairs compared to those in the dormers. The right end wall includes a small stair light. At the rear left, there is an old wing with a low outshut against the road, which continues as a single-storey range. This wing has one dormer and a removed end stack, with 20th-century infill added to the rear right around 1980.
Inside, the layout has been largely opened up. The left room and the right room each have five medium-sized rough beams, some of which are chamfered. The rear wing contains five thinner beams that are slightly chamfered.
