Description

The Conway Burial Yard features enclosure railings, walls, gatepiers, and memorials, all designated as Grade II. The railings are made of spearhead iron and supported by larger standards with twisted wrought iron scrolls, set atop a low stone wall with coping. These railings extend along the side of the chapel and curve from the chapel corner to the road. At the corner, there is an entrance gateway with matching double gates situated between two stone gatepiers that are tooled and feature plinths, cornices, and capstones. A similar gatepier is located at the end of the railings along the chapel, while the other two sides are enclosed by rubble stone walls.

Inside the burial yard, there are several notable memorials. These include a massive short fluted obelisk on a pedestal with angle piers dedicated to George Conway, who died in 1834; a chest tomb for Joseph Conway, who died in 1839; a chest tomb with baluster angles for Rachel Conway, who died in 1811; an urn-topped pedestal memorial for George Conway, who died in 1820, featuring reeded angles; a square memorial with draped plaques on each side for Elizabeth Jones, who died in 1825; a pedestal memorial for Sarah Evans (née Conway, wife of Rev. D.D. Evans), who died in 1837, with a relief carving of a woman and anchor on the tapered top piece; a hexagonal Gothic monument for various members of the Conway family, dating from 1842 onward; and an obelisk for Mary Price (née Conway), who died in 1862.
