Description
Cwmbrynar, also known as Cwmbraenar Cottage, is a two-storey cottage featuring late Georgian architectural details. It is constructed of rubble masonry and topped with a Welsh slate roof, which includes end chimney stacks with brick neck bands. The front of the cottage has a broad two-window layout, with all openings showcasing cambered-headed voussoirs. On either side of the entrance are recessed small-pane horned sash windows with sills, featuring 9 panes on the first floor and 12 panes on the ground floor. The entrance has a four-panelled door that was originally set further back and is now partially glazed. At the rear, there is a cat-slide roof, a central doorway, and cambered-headed windows on both sides, with the upper window positioned just below the eaves. There are no windows on the gable ends.
Inside, the layout remains unaltered, featuring a central cross passage, end chimneys, and winding stone stairs next to the stepped chimney breast on the right. The ceilings are beamed, and upstairs, the two rooms connect directly to one another in a traditional arrangement.
