Description
Ivy House Farmhouse is a small two-storey farmhouse consisting of two adjoining wings, with the later northeast wing featuring a lower ridge to its roof. The building is constructed of whitewashed stone rubble and has a Welsh slate roof, with end and ridge stacks, two of which are topped with 19th-century decorative yellow terracotta pots.
The riverside wing, which is the earlier section, has a two-window range of 2-light wood casements with small panes at the heads, and cambered heads on the ground floor. There is a central painted yellow brick gabled porch with a segmental arched doorway. The uphill wing has a single window range with similar windows, and to the right and centre left is a gabled brick porch featuring a pointed arched doorway. On either side of the wings are single-storey outshuts with small pointed arched windows that have Gothick glazing.
Inside the riverside wing, there is a large open fireplace with a bread oven, alongside a spiral stone staircase. The porch opens directly into this room, which has a separate narrow room downhill and access to the uphill wing through a door beside the fireplace. The uphill wing includes a corridor leading from the second porch, a parlour with a replaced fireplace, and a separate staircase that runs parallel to the back wall, along with a kitchen outshut.
