Description
The Royal Bank of Scotland is a three-storey building with three bays facing Bute Street and a semi-hexagonal return facing north onto West Bute Street. It is constructed of painted stucco and features a dentil cornice, quoins, and a rusticated plinth. There are string courses at sill level on each floor, a slate roof, and stucco chimneys with classical detailing. The windows facing West Bute Street are plain, while the second-floor windows have shouldered architraves. The first-floor windows are adorned with a cornice and small brackets beneath the sill string course, similar to those at 122-124 Bute Street. The ground floor windows facing Bute Street are similar but have larger brackets beneath the sill level string course. Additionally, there is a single-storey extension to the banking hall on the ground floor facing north, designed in a matching style, with windows and doorway architraves like those on the second floor, but with brackets below the string course. A balustrade is present above this extension.
Inside, the banking hall features hall panelling and a panelled counter, supported by Corinthian columns, and has a simple moulded cornice on the ceiling.
