Description

This is a cylindrical cast iron pillar box, painted red with a slightly wider black base. The base features the founders' name in raised letters. The hinged door has the embossed royal cipher 'VR'. Above the door is a horizontal posting aperture, which is flanked by the words 'Post Office' in relief. The box is topped with a projecting shallow domed cap that has a fluted cornice.
