Description

Capel Pen-rhiw is a chapel built with whitewashed stone rubble walls and a stone slate gabled roof. The south-east elevation features a tall central sash window that is three panes wide, flanked on each side by a two-light window with small panes and a square-headed doorway that has a ledged door. The north-west wall is illuminated by another three-pane wide sash window. The south-west gable end includes a semi-circular headed sash window with glazing bars, while the north-east gable end has a small window.

This single cell chapel includes a gallery, accessed by a stone staircase against the north-east wall that leads to an early 19th-century gallery, which replaced a loft, on the south-west, north-west, and north-east sides. The pews are of varying designs with panelled sides, likely indicating that each family was responsible for their own pew. There is an arcaded pew next to the pulpit, probably designated for elders, with another pew for deacons located in front of it. The roof is constructed on false crucks and features six bays, collared principals, three tiers of purlins, and a ridge piece.
