Description

Rhiwbina Farmhouse is a small farmhouse constructed of stone that is pebbledashed on the front and side, topped with a Welsh slate roof and featuring end stacks. The building is two storeys high, with three windows on each floor; there are two windows to the left of the porch and one to the right, with replaced glazing and some cambered heads. The porch is gabled. At the rear, a catslide roof extends over a lower two-storey section, where the first-floor windows are positioned close to the eaves, with one window blocked on the left and the others having all-new glazing. The side elevation facing downhill has a stepped-out section with a 3/3 pane sash window and an attached lean-to stable. The property includes a mounting block and a garden enclosed by stone walls, featuring a stone stile at the front entrance.

The layout consists of a porch and two rooms separated by a staircase. The porch has a flagged floor, limewashed walls, and a segmental arched doorway that leads directly into the right room, which contains two chamfered and stopped cross beams and a blocked open fireplace. The left room, separated by the stairs, has two chamfered cross beams that are papered over, an unusual bolection moulded surround to the fireplace, and recesses on either side with glazed cupboards, as well as window seats. The interior also features some six-panelled doors, some with overlights, and a separate bread oven.
