Description
The railings, gates, and dwarf wall at St John's Churchyard date from the 19th century. The dwarf wall is made of grey rock-faced stone and features moulded capstones that support wrought iron railings. The railings are adorned with leaf finials and include a band of quatrefoils above a band of open trefoils, as well as lower intermediate railings topped with arrow finials. Taller posts are capped with fleur-de-lys finials. At the corners adjacent to the lane aligned with the market, there are wrought iron piers decorated with wrought-iron leaves and quatrefoils on the panels. The corners feature Gothic finials, while the centre has fleur-de-lys finials. A gate leading to the lane matches the overall style of the railings and wall.
