Description
The gates, wall, and wall with railings to St John's Church date from the 18th century. They feature good wrought-iron gates at the western entrance, likely created by a pupil of Goujou, showcasing scroll pattern panels, standards, and an overthrow. These gates were acquired from the sale of Canons, the Duke of Chandos's mansion near Edgware, in 1747. The structure includes attached wrought and cast-iron railings on sleeper walls, with the northern entrance marked by stone-capped gate piers and urn finial standards. The wrought-iron overthrow has an original Sugg six-sided Westminster lantern. To the left of this gateway, there is a lamp-holder with a ladder bar incorporated into the railings. The churchyard walls are made of 18th-century multi-coloured stock brick, featuring vamped copings that have been partially rebuilt in places.
