Description
The tomb of Lady Elizabeth Norton, who died in 1715, is located in St John's Churchyard. It is a table tomb featuring a stone slab supported by six arcaded square columns, which have ringed capitals and large bases. This tomb is a well-preserved example of a type that is uncommon in London churchyards, dedicated to a daughter of the Earl of Gainsborough. The inscription on the tomb remains legible and reads: "her virtues appeared in every part of her life, her humility in her grave, which she chose in this place."
