Description
The churchyard railings located to the west and north-west of the church wall, as well as to the north, east, and south of the church, are mid-19th century cast iron railings designed in a Gothic style by J.S. Benest. They feature trefoil-headed spaces between the shafts, a quatrefoil frieze at the base, and a spiked moulded top rail. The slim Gothic panelled stanchions are topped with crocketed pinnacles and include supporting brackets. These railings are set on a low brick plinth with stone coping, complemented by an octagonal ashlar pier at the north-west corner and similar gate piers at the south end. The surrounding churchyard wall, which encloses a large churchyard on the north, east, and south sides, is an early 19th-century red brick wall that is low in height, featuring rounded brick coping and flat buttresses at intervals.
