Description

Lisvane Baptist Chapel is a rectangular building oriented roughly northwest to southeast, featuring stone walls that are covered with cement render and roughcast, painted. The slate gabled roof has wide boarded eaves and end gables. The main entrance elevation showcases two tall round-headed windows with replaced glazing, flanking a round-headed doorway that includes a replaced fanlight and renewed panelled double doors set beneath a moulded arch with a keystone; there is a plaque above the doorway. Similar long windows are present on the other gable end facing the road. At the gallery level, the windows are square-headed with renewed glazing that replaces the former casements. There are lean-tos with windows on each side, with the southern lean-to serving as the vestry and having a separate entrance. The graveyard contains some table tombs.

Inside, there is a three-sided gallery with a plain panelled front supported by five plain cast-iron columns. Between the long windows is a blind semi-circular arched moulded reredos, featuring a fluted and reeded archivolt and keystone; below this is the pulpit facing the entrance, accompanied by a double staircase. The ceiling is plaster with a moulded rose and cornice. The pews have moulded ends, and there is an enclosed entrance lobby where the stairs unusually rise from the body of the chapel on each side. The gallery benches are plain, and there is a panelled dado, scored render, and four-panelled doors.
