Description
The Mount, along with Osmington Cottage and Ivy Cottage, is a group of three two-storey cottages built from stone rubble with dressed stone quoins. They feature coping and kneelers on the gables, and have a Welsh slate roof with ridge stacks topped with old pots. The cottages date back to 1852, as indicated by a plaque on the center cottage. Each cottage has three-light casement windows, where the center lights are plain and the outer lights have lattice tracery, all resting on stone cills. The porches have pointed arches and gables. Ivy Cottage, which is set back in the center, has a front elevation with two window bays and a central door bay with a porch. The front elevations of Osmington Cottage on the left and The Mount on the right are designed as gabled cross-wings, with Osmington Cottage to the east and The Mount to the west. Both have three-light casement windows above and below in the front gable ends, and each side elevation features an external stack and porch. The rear elevation has not been seen. The interior was not inspected during the resurvey.
