Description
The Entrance Block to Castle Arcade is a four-storey building featuring nine windows arranged in a pattern of 2-2-1-2-2 within shallow bays. It has horned sash windows and is constructed from pressed yellow brick with painted bathstone dressings. The roof is slate, and the end bays are topped with steeply-pitched pavilion roofs that include round-arched dormer windows. A bracketed cornice with a medallion frieze adorns the top. The top floor has round-arched windows, while the first and second floors feature camber-headed windows with colonettes and relief aprons. The centre of the building showcases a two-storey splayed oriel window on the first and second floors. The entrance to the arcade is round-arched and includes relief spandrels, with modern shopfronts on either side.
