Description

19 High Street is a small house constructed from roughly coursed multi-coloured Radyr stone, featuring some cut stone quoins and dressings, topped with a Welsh slate gabled roof. The building is two storeys high and has three bays, designed in a 17th-century cottage style. The original iron lattice casements noted in the 1975 description have been replaced with leaded lozenge casements that match the character of the house.

The northernmost bay includes a 2-light casement window on the first floor and a splayed 4-light bay window with a hipped slate roof on the ground floor. The central entrance bay is gabled and projects outward, featuring a transomed and mullioned window on the first floor with a small attic window above it. The ground floor has a pointed doorway with a wooden door that has cover strips. The southernmost bay is recessed and has a 2-light transomed and mullioned window on the ground floor.

The south return of the house is rendered, and there is a stack that is corbelled for the upper floor. An iron gate with narrow uprights and spear-headed finials, which was originally attached to the southern angle of the central bay, has been repositioned on the south return as part of the rear access. The rear elevation has not been inspected. The interior has also not been inspected during the resurvey.
