Description

The Cenotaph is a white granite stepped obelisk situated on a shallow mound with inset steps. The side of the obelisk facing the sea features a bronze statue of Winged Victory, depicted on a ship's prow, holding a sword and a laurel wreath. Below the statue, there is an inscription that reads, "In grateful memory of the Men of Penarth who died for their country in The Great War 1914 1918 also 1939 1945." The sides of the obelisk are inscribed with the names of men and women who were lost in both World Wars.
