Description
Nos 56 and 58 Eastgate are a pair of two-storey houses built slightly forward from No 54, with a rear parallel range. Each front elevation is two bays wide, featuring pebbledash cladding and a stuccoed band, with adjacent doorways. The houses have slate gabled roofs, with a lower ridge and higher eaves compared to No 54. There is a shared stack on the left side with No 54 and a stone stack at the right end.
No 56 has sash windows without glazing bars. On the ground floor, there is one window on the left and, on the right, two steps lead up to a round-headed doorway with an open moulded and boarded pediment, painted reveals, and a plain fanlight that includes the number "56" in gold lettering, along with a six-flush panelled door. The first floor has two windows.
No 58 features a similar doorway adjacent to No 56, with an appropriate gold lettered number in the fanlight. It has sixteen-pane sash windows, with one on the right side of the ground floor and two on the first floor.
Inside, No 56 includes an earlier 19th-century staircase and possibly other contemporary fittings.
