Description

This is a two-storey house comprising numbers 71 and 73 Eastgate. The building has walls of stone rubble, with the front elevation finished with a pebbledash coating. It has a slate roof, a large stone stack located to the northwest of the centre, a corbelled stack on the northwest gable end, and a stone stack to the rear wing. Number 73 features a modern front door, a modern shop window, and an advertisement board at first-floor level; it also has a modern shop window to the left return. Number 71 has two small-pane sash windows on the first floor and, on the ground floor, a shop window to the right and a half-glazed door to the left, with a further modern door to the left of this. Inside number 71 is a late 16th to early 17th century chamfered square-headed fireplace on the first floor, featuring stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
