Description
The Star Inn is a two-storey public house, with parts dating back to the 18th century. The entire building is rendered and painted, likely over local limestone rubble. The older section on the left features a thatched roof, while the right section has a Welsh slate roof with ridge tiles and brick stacks. The left side likely follows a lobby entry plan, while the right has a direct entry plan.
On the ground floor of the left section, there are three windows and a door arranged as follows: door, window, window, window, all with keyed rendered surrounds. The windows are 2 over 2 pane sashes, with two smaller similar windows above. Between these is a well-painted sign reading "THE STAR INN." The door is part glazed. The right-hand window, which lacks an upper window, may serve as a fire-window or could have illuminated an unheated inner room, as the stack appears to be external to the original building. There are three stacks: one on the left gable, one in the lobby-entry position, and one external to the right gable, possibly part of the right-hand house.
The right-hand section has a two-room plan with direct entry into the right-hand room. It features one 2 over 2 pane sash window on the ground floor and two above, along with a part glazed door, all set in plain architraves. The roof is plain with brick stacks at either end of the ridge.
The rear elevation has 20th-century extensions that obscure the ground floors of both sections. Above these extensions, there is one small window in the older section and two in the later part.
The interior of the ground floors of both sections has been opened up into one continuous bar space, but the interior has not been further inspected.
