Description

This is a terrace of ten houses, numbered 1 to 10 Pwll-y-Min Crescent, built in an unusual style that combines Moorish, Arts and Crafts, and proto-Modernist design elements. The houses date from the early 20th century. The external walls are painted render and the roofs are flat with coping stones. The windows are multipane casement windows, each set beneath a hoodmould. The front doors are boarded and feature a central glazed panel. Each house is two storeys high with an additional tower room.

While the houses are generally similar, they are not identical. Most have a centrally located doorway with mosaic work in a lunette shape above, flanked by small hall windows. Above the hall windows is a two-light casement window. One side of the entrance is an advanced block with a two-storey splayed bay window. On the other side is a stepped-back, square turret with a flat roof that rises above the main roofline, featuring a single window on each storey and a doorway leading to the flat roof. A narrow bay, set back from the turret, links the separate properties. In front of the turret and the entrance bay is a single-storey, flat-roofed block, also connecting properties. The rear elevation is plain, with a three-window arrangement. Swept and stepped parapets (though not matching) are found at the centre of the terrace, serving Nos. 3 & 4 and Nos. 5 & 6.

Originally, the terrace was further enhanced by a curved yew hedge with individual boarded gates, each featuring full-width hinges. No. 10 has been altered, with replacement plastic windows and an altered front door.
