Description

This is a row of ten terraced houses, numbered 1 to 10, situated on a crescent shape. They were built in an unusual style, incorporating elements of Moorish, Arts and Crafts, and early Modernist design, with flat roofs. The houses are faced in painted render and have flat roofs with coping stones. They feature multipane casement windows, each protected by a hoodmould, and boarded front doors with a central glazed panel. The houses are two storeys high, with an additional tower room above.

The houses are largely similar but have subtle differences. Typically, each has a centrally positioned doorway featuring mosaic work in a lunette shape, flanked by small hall windows, with a two-light casement window above. One side of the entrance has a projecting two-storey bay with a splayed window, while the other side features a setback square turret with a flat roof that rises above the main roofline; the turret has a single window on each level and a doorway leading to the flat roof. A narrow bay, set back from the turret, connects this property to adjacent houses. Projecting in front of both the turret and the entrance bay is a single-storey, flat-roofed block, also connecting properties. The rear elevation is a simple three-window design. Swept and stepped parapets, although not matching exactly, are found on the centre of the terrace at numbers 3 & 4 and 5 & 6. Originally, the design was further enhanced by a curved yew hedge with individual boarded gates that had full-width hinges.

Number 3 has replacement plastic windows and a replaced front door.
