W Precinct Wall at Ewenny Priory (house)

The west precinct wall at Ewenny Priory is a Grade I listed structure consisting of three sections of coursed rubble wall that meet at roughly right angles. These walls stand nearly to their full height and were originally topped with battlements, which are mostly preserved, particularly on the southern section. The northern section connects to the northern gatehouse on the east and a corner tower on the west. This section features a strongly battered base, two rows of putlogs, and six intact arrow slits.

The northwest corner tower is semicircular and also stands nearly to full height on the west side, with intact arrow loops on the northeast and northwest sides. The western section of the wall is slightly curved and includes putlogs, arrow slits, and battlements that are intact, though its base is less battered than the others. This section connects to the southern section at right angles, with quoins, and extends to the southern gatehouse.

Access to the battlements is available through a west-facing doorway in the northern gatehouse, and a walkway remains intact around all three sides of the structure. The northwest tower features deep embrasures for the arrow loops and had former steps leading up to the battlements.
