Description

This cast-iron milepost features a blend of Gothic and Classical design elements. It has pointed arches on its splayed sides with relief inscriptions indicating distances: 'To Bridgend 2' on the left and 'To Pyle 4' on the right. The top of the milepost is adorned with a semicircular arched head that has a keystone inscribed with 'Bridgend District'. At the base, there is a moulded rectangular panel inscribed with 'Laleston Parish', and above it, a round-arched panel bears the inscription 'London 179'.
