Description
There are two chest tombs located side by side against the east wall of the churchyard at the Church of St James. Both tombs are made of sandstone.
The first tomb features a fielded slab on each side, flanked by panelled pilasters, and has a moulded ledger slab. It is inscribed to Catherine Ellen Morfa-bach, who died in 1868 at the age of 8, and also includes an inscription for Lewis Jones, who died in 1875.
The second chest tomb is similar in design but is styled in Gothic fashion. Its end pilasters are shaped with cusped panels and it commemorates Evan and Mary Jones, who died in 1833 at the age of 9 days, with an additional inscription for Mary Jones.
