Description
Former Harbour House is a Tudor-Gothic style building dating from the 19th century. It is a large, symmetrical structure with five windows, consisting of two storeys and an attic. The building features an advanced central gabled bay adorned with barge boards and a large finial. It is constructed of coursed stone with quoins, and has replaced slate roof coverings along with stone ridge stacks at both ends and the center, each topped with moulded caps.
Architectural details include a plat band and openings with pronounced rusticated jambs and square hoodmoulds. The windows are either lancets or flat-headed lights, featuring horizontal glazing bars. The advanced central bay contains three-light windows, with flat-headed windows on the lower storey and lancets above. There is a single lancet in the gable, while the south side of the gable at ground floor level has a single lancet that is now blocked.
Flanking the central bay are doorways with raised Tudor-arched heads, which hold wooden doors with overlights. On the outer sides of the central bay, there are three-lancet windows. The upper storey has flat-headed windows, with a single-light window above the doors and a three-light window above the lancets. There is a narrow square-headed attic light on the south gable, with a similar arrangement on the north gable end. At the rear, there is a brick lean-to featuring segmental-arched window openings.
Access to the interior was not available at the time of inspection on December 1, 1999.
