Description
The Harbour Watch-Tower is a two-storey octagonal structure built in the 19th century, featuring battlemented parapets. It is made of stone, with the lower storey constructed from coursed rubble and quoins, while the upper storey is finished with dressed stone. The parapets have a moulded coping that supports dressed crenellations at the corners. The main facade faces west towards the sea and includes a doorway with a segmental head made of voussoirs and a wooden door frame. Above this door is a window opening with a similar head, flanked by two matching windows on the side faces. There are two additional tall, rectangular windows on the south and northeast faces, both with flat heads. The original door and glazing are no longer present.
Inside, four cast iron I-section beams once supported a low floor between the ground and upper storeys, and additional cast iron beams support the ceiling of the upper floor. On the north side at ground level, there is a circular hole in the wall lined with cast iron, which may have been intended for a telescope. Above this, there is blocking in the wall beneath a cast iron lintel, which could have been for a fireplace.
