Description

The Neath River Swing Bridge features a slightly curved plate-girder deck supported by five fixed spans on round steel cylinders that are sunk into the river bed. The central movable span consists of a parabolic lattice girder truss, which includes Pratt truss diagonal members. The entire structure is supported by a cast iron roller race that houses the operating mechanism, which is mounted on smaller steel cylinders.
