Description

Home Farm Cartshed and Loft is a range of four cartsheds that face east towards the farmyard. The structure is built from rubble sandstone masonry and topped with a slate roof, which does not have gutters. Each of the four cartshed arches is deep and segmental, constructed from 9-inch (22.5 cm) brickwork, with wide piers between them. Above the piers, there are three loft hatches, and the rear elevation also features three similar loft hatches, although these are concealed by a modern lean-to shed. The building was formerly heavily whitewashed or rendered. There are stone exterior stairs located at the south gable end. The roof has ten bays supported by pine trusses.
