Description

Swansea Castle consists of two separate blocks. To the north, there is a small square tower that was later used as a debtors’ prison and may contain the earliest surviving work of the castle. The larger residential block forms the southeast angle of the structure. A notable feature of the castle is the arcaded parapet, which is linked to the work of Henry Gower, Bishop of St David's, who died in 1347, and is also found in the episcopal palaces at Lamphey and St David's.
