Description

New Forest Farm is a two-storey house with a cellar and attics, constructed of stone and featuring a hipped roof made of stone-slate and tiles. The north elevation is symmetrical with three bays, showcasing windows with stone flat-arches and 19th-century mullion and transom casements, along with dormers that have boarded cheeks. The front door, dating from around 1900, has two sets of three bevelled panels and is topped by a 20th-century canopy supported by posts. The original end chimneys remain intact.

The south elevation is approximately symmetrical but has been heavily rebuilt, with five of the six windows now fitted with concrete lintels. The kitchen, built as a single storey with a loft, is also made of stone and has a stone-slate roof. The north side of the kitchen has been largely rebuilt, featuring a 19th-century plank door and a 20th-century casement window, while the south side has a modern glazed door and window from the 19th century. The east side retains an original chimney with a half-round oven that projects at the rear beneath pitched slabs, along with two old timber-lintelled windows and a renewed plank door that leads up stone steps curving around the oven. A 19th-century lean-to shed made of stone and topped with a corrugated iron roof is attached to the north side.

Inside, the original staircase leads to the attics and features square newels, a good handrail, and columnar balusters, although some are missing. There are three six-panelled oak doors, one of which has been reset, and a 19th-century plank partition with a door leading to the cellar. One room has been fitted with modern oak panelling, while part of the rear room survives on the west side. The door to the original kitchen is made of beaded oak planks. On the first floor, some original four-panelled oak doors remain. The roof has collared trusses, one plain fireplace opening, and two original oak-plank doors.
