Description

Vine Tree Cottage & 2 Vine Tree Cottages

Two-storey rubble stone house with roughcast front and pebble-dashed rear, all painted cream, and slate roof. Stone stack R of centre with diagonal shaft, replaced stone stack to R and C19 stone stack to L. Three-window front (of which No.2 Vine Tree Cottages occupies unit to R and has 2 lately added roof dormers), with centre-pivoting small-pane windows to centre and L in the upper storey, and 3-light window to R with ovolo mullions. Doorway to R of centre has a shaped head and a boarded door with strap hinges. Enlarged casement window R of doorway and small-pane casement to L. L of centre is the single-storey former dairy with modern openings, which has a further projection of rubble stone with end stone stack and replaced openings, added C19. In the gable end to R is a stepped external stack on 1st-floor corbels, and a continuous drip stone at eaves level. In the rear elevation is a shallow stair turret L of centre, to L of which are casement windows in each storey, both additions. To R of stair turret is a small-pane casement in upper storey in earlier opening, and 3 fixed lights R of centre in lower storey at pavement level. In the L gable end is a 1-storey modern projection.
