43 High Street Inferior

Nos 43 and 43a High Street Inferior is a shop with accommodation above, built in the 19th century. The building has three storeys and is finished in stucco. It features a hipped slate roof with projecting boarded eaves. The ground floor has panelled pilasters, while giant pilasters are present on the first and second floors. A cornice runs along the first floor level. The High Street elevation has three windows, each with moulded architraves on both the second and first floors. The second floor has segmental headed openings, while the first floor has rectangular openings topped with shallow segmental pediments on small consoles. The sash windows do not have glazing bars. The shopfront includes a central doorway that is set back between display windows. The wide elevation facing down Ship Street also has three storeys and three bays, each with paired windows similar to those on the High Street. It features two broad modern display windows and a doorway to the right. The rendered southeast side elevation facing Church Lane is two bays wide with plain openings.
