Description
The Old Museum is a former chapel built from stone and faced in cement rendering. It has two storeys and consists of two blocks with three and two windows. The taller block features a slate roof with paired bracketed eaves. There is a band and pilasters at the first-floor level, while the ground floor is rusticated. The first-floor windows are round-headed sash windows with interlacing tracery and have moulded archivolts. A plain round-headed doorway is located in the center, accessed by steps, and features panelled doors and a fanlight; the windows are similar to those above. The right-hand return wall curves at the northeast end, showcasing exposed stone with brick dressings around the windows, similar to the front. At the west end, there is a slightly lower wing with three storeys and two windows, featuring floors at different levels compared to the main block. This wing also has round-headed windows with interlacing tracery and a parapet with plain capping.
