Description
22 Castle Street is a three-storey building featuring a four-bay front with a curved corner bay at the right end. The upper floors are rendered and include decorative bands and pilasters, while the ground floor is rusticated. The building has a straight front facing Castle Street, with small square sash windows on the second floor. The first and ground floors have sash windows without glazing bars, including four single sash windows on the first floor and two plate glass display windows on the ground floor, which were formerly triple sash windows.
On the ground floor, to the right of the centre, there is a round-headed and pedimented doorway with panelled reveals, a plain semi-circular fanlight, and a six-panelled door. The corner bay features bowed sash windows without glazing bars on both the first and second floors, along with a half-glazed door that has a fanlight on the ground floor.
To the right, there is a wall that screens former toilets, which includes a semi-circular archway with a keystone, flanked by panels and topped with semi-circular panelling that has floral decoration in the spandrels and a cornice above.
