Description
The barn range at Tyle Clydach is a small four-bay structure built from stone rubble with boulder footings and a corrugated roof. It is set into a slope and aligned roughly east to west. The central double doorway is flanked by ventilation slits, and there are triangular ventilators at the gable end, with all openings featuring timber lintels.
Stepped down from the main barn is a small byre that has three doorways with planked doors and a dormer for the loft, along with a rear lean-to. Further stepped down is a small bay at the end, which was formerly used as a dairy; this section has more regularly coursed masonry and incorporates some brick.
Inside, the barn features simple tie beam trusses with three rows of trenched purlins and deep splays to the ventilators. The byre retains some of its original stall fittings.
