Description

The Llanddetti Bridge, also known as Canal Bridge No. 139, is a hump-backed bridge constructed of rubble sandstone. The segmental arch is formed of thin voussoirs, and it is flanked by a low parapet with flat coping. The abutments curve outwards on both sides, and the parapet includes square end piers. A cast iron plaque, bearing the bridge number in relief, is positioned in the keystone of the arch on the eastern side. The towpath runs beneath the bridge on the north side and features a stone kerb. A stringcourse is located roughly at water level on the south side. The bridge deck is currently surfaced with a grass and concrete farm track, and two lozenge-shaped cast iron notices indicating weight restrictions are in place.
