Description
The former coach-house range at Oakfield dates from the early 19th century and was built at the same time as the main house, although it is made of coursed rubble and freestone rather than brick. The building features a classical three-bay front with a plinth, and the central bay is advanced and taller, adorned with a pediment. At the ridge, there is a timber bellcote with pointed openings, a domed lead roof, and a weathervane. The roof is covered with slate and has wide boarded eaves.
In the center, there is a boarded coachman's loft opening above a segmental coach entrance, which is flanked by recessed boarded gates and doors. On either side of the entrance are thermal windows; the left window is blocked, while the right has intersecting Gothic tracery. Additionally, there is a small-paned window on the left end above twin cambered arch openings that feature voussoirs and boarded gates. To the left rear, there is an attached parallel rubble range with a swept roof and a loft opening.
The building has now been converted for use as a garage.
