Description

Harley's Almshouses is a group of single-storey buildings, except for Nos. 6 and 7, which are two-storey with one window front. The structure is made of coursed rubble with a plinth. It features a slate roof with overhanging eaves and brick chimney stacks that are set diagonally, with the taller stacks located at the center flanking a two-window pebbledash gable for Nos. 6 and 7. The windows and door openings have voussoir lintels and include paired casement windows with diamond leaded glazing and boarded shutters that have C-shaped fastenings, along with boarded doors. There are slated lean-to hoods above the doors, which are twinned except for the end houses.

Nos. 6 and 7 also have casement windows from a 1927 addition, along with a crucifix above a datestone and a coat of arms in a diamond recess. A modern tablet below the coat of arms is inscribed "Harley Almshouses, these almshouses were built and endowed by Frances Harley in memory of her Sister Martha Harley of Trebarried in 1836, they were modernised in 1974." The rear of the building has modern windows and a central lean-to.
