Description
Harley's Almshouses are a group of single-storey buildings, with Nos. 6 and 7 being two-storey structures, each featuring one window front. They are constructed from coursed rubble with a plinth and topped with a slate roof that has overhanging eaves. The brick chimney stacks are set diagonally, with the taller ones located at the center, flanking a two-window pebbledash gable for Nos. 6 and 7. The buildings have Tudor pointed windows and door openings with voussoir lintels. There are paired casement windows that include diamond leaded glazing and boarded shutters secured with C-shaped fastenings, along with boarded doors. The hoods over the windows are slated lean-tos, twinned except for the end houses.
A 1927 addition features casement windows, a crucifix above a datestone, and a coat of arms set in a diamond recess. A modern tablet on the property states, "Harley Almshouses, these almshouses were built and endowed by Frances Harley in memory of her Sister Martha Harley of Trebarried in 1836, they were modernised in 1974." The rear of the building has modern windows and a central lean-to.
