Harley's Almhouses

Harley's Almshouses are a group of single-storey buildings, except for Nos. 6 and 7, which are two-storey with one-window fronts. They are constructed from coursed rubble with a plinth and feature a slate roof with overhanging eaves. The brick chimney stacks are set diagonally, with the taller ones located at the center, flanking a two-window pebbledash gable for Nos. 6 and 7. The windows and door openings have voussoir lintels and include paired casement windows with diamond leaded glazing and boarded shutters that have C-shaped fastenings, along with boarded doors. There are slated lean-to hoods over the doors, which are twinned except for the end houses.

A 1927 addition features casement windows, and there is a crucifix above a datestone along with a coat of arms in a diamond recess. A modern tablet below the coat of arms states, "Harley Almshouses, these almshouses were built and endowed by Frances Harley in memory of her Sister Martha Harley of Trebarried in 1836, they were modernised in 1974." The rear of the building has modern windows and a central lean-to structure.
