Description
10 Wheat Street is a former house that has been converted into offices. The building features a cement-rendered front facing Wheat Street, consisting of three storeys and three windows. It has quoins and bands at the second and first floor levels, along with a plinth. The window openings are adorned with stuccoed architraves and contain sash windows with glazing bars; the second floor windows also have horns. On the ground floor, there is a central doorway flanked by pilasters and topped with a cornice, featuring fielded panelled reveals, a fanlight with tracery, and a fielded panelled door.
Inside, there are well-preserved contemporary interiors, including a 19th-century vestibule with a round-headed arch and six-panelled doors, as well as a contemporary staircase. The northwest ground floor room has an arched recess with a semi-elliptical head in the rear wall, and a window in the front wall with a fluted architrave and blocks at the angles, complete with shutters. The rear first floor room boasts a plaster ceiling with a rose and a fireplace featuring fluted pilasters and blocks at the angles. Additional period details are present on the first floor, including panelled doors.
