Description
North Lodge is a picturesque gate lodge with a T-shaped plan and irregular additions, constructed from locally sourced masonry. It features tile roofs with generous eaves and overhangs, along with small hanging finials.
The main elevation faces the road and includes a central gable with a canted bay window that has a tiled canopy. The eaves are notably sprocketted, supported by struts on corbels that hold up the cantilevered wallplate ends. To the left, there is a tall chimney and two small gabled wings, while to the right, an open lean-to roof serves as the entrance, supported by timber posts and brackets. The bay window is of the mullion and transom type, featuring three lights at the front and canted flank lights, with the Cawdor arms displayed in a lozenge above.
On the side elevation facing the private road, there is a similar gable verge and a two-light mullion and transom window. The porch is supported by three posts with brackets.
The rear elevation has a truncated chimney on the left, above which the roof has been restored. On the right, there is an angled bay window of the mullion and transom type, featuring two lights on each flank and a three-hipped roof topped with a finial.
