Description
Pont-y-wern is a notable single-arch estate bridge made of limestone, featuring a span of 12 meters and supporting a road that is about 5 meters wide. The bridge has a deep segmental arch, with thin voussoirs that are nearly 0.5 meters deep and a slender keystone. On either side of the arch, there are two shallow buttresses that rise to form piers in the parapets.
The parapets are constructed in ashlar masonry and are divided into three lengths, each separated by small piers. The central section on each side includes three sets of balusters. The parapet has weathering at the base, and the top course is chamfered with a slight weathering on the exterior side.
